With a promise to increase hydration and optimize beard conditioning, we were excited to delve into this very affordable and promising beard oil from V76 by Vaughn. At first glance we were excited to find an affordable beard oil with some promising ingredients. However, upon closer inspection we found some ingredients that do not measure up to our standard and confirmed our suspicion that in the end, you get what you pay for.
The 2 main stand-out ingredients we found here are Jojoba oil and Grape Seed oil which are both clear choices for a top beard oil as they help moisturize and soften the beard hair. We also appreciate the addition of Saw Palmetto which may help with beard growth, despite the manufacturer advertising this as only a beard conditioning formula. We would have liked to see more emphasis on beard growth and creating a dual-action product instead of only focusing on the moisturizing element.
Furthermore, we found some ingredients that may cause potential skin irritation such as Cinnamyl alcohol and Phenoxyethanol. These are unnatural ingredients that may result in redness or itchiness when interacting with sensitive areas such as the face. These additions dilute the quality of the product and also explain the lower price tag of this beard oil.

Captain Fawcett’s John Petrucci’s Nebula Beard Oil
We love how this product is rock n’ roll inspired and the packaging and look of it drew us in immediately. Just the description is enough to taunt your senses and make you want to press on the ‘order’ button as soon as possible. However, the price is very high and we couldn’t find a comprehensive list of ingredients that shows what ingredients the formula consists of.
This product is king at capturing your attention, but we find the celebrity endorsement unoriginal and unnecessary. We like to get the scientific reasoning behind each ingredient addition, but here we couldn’t find any ingredient list whatsoever. This got us to wondering what the company is trying to cover up by its over-indulgent price and packaging, but no scientific/powerful essence to back it up. If it is made up of high-quality, top ingredients, then why isn’t the manufacturer advertising this because then there would be some justification for the price.
We didn’t see any mention of ingredients we would typically look for in a quality beard oil, such as Caffeine or Biotin or any oils that also have a reputation for conditioning beard hair and beard growth such as Moringa, Jojoba or Cedarwood. Although the rich description mentions a “tenacious woody cedar” we would have liked to have a better understanding of which ingredients are responsible for this.
While this manufacturer is a well-established brand in the UK and may have a reputable name, they do not offer a money-back guarantee which is rather disappointing. A guarantee instills confidence in consumers that the manufacturer stands by his product and firmly believes in what he’s selling. We were also disappointed that we couldn’t find many reviews from actual customers.
