After scouring through hundreds of beard oils online, it’s obvious that the range is endless. We liked this particular product mostly because it seems to be one of the higher-quality ones on the cheaper side of beard oils. The company has a rich history in men’s products and more specifically men’s hair products so it’s fair to say that they know what they’re doing. The price is one that can fit most budgets and there seems to be a fair amount of positive reviews online. While this is not a formula we would pick out as being ideal, there are some great ingredients included.
This particular product is formulated to hydrate and condition beard hair but doesn’t have any indication of containing ingredients that promote hair growth. We believe these two ideas go hand-in-hand and ideally should be offered as a dual-action formula. We were slightly disappointed that this is not the case with V75 by Vaughn.
The ingredients that stood out to us in this formula and are also the main reason we picked it as our second choice, are Jojoba oil, Sunflower oil, Olive oil and Grapseed oil. We like the Jojoba and Grapeseed oil combination as they are known to boost hydration, act as a conditioning agent and help prevent beardruff. Sunflower and Olive oil act as wax sealants, helping prevent breakage and strengthening the hair strands. This formula also includes Saw Palmetto, which is a very interesting and welcome addition as this may be the only ingredient in this formula that may help with beard growth. We didn’t find much scientific research to back up the ingredients listed in this formula which usually would be something we look out for.
Unfortunately there are also ingredients here that seem redundant and potentially harmful. Cinnamyl alcohol, Phenoxyethanol and Parfum (fragrance) are unnecessary and have been known to potentially cause skin irritation and itchiness. These ingredients don’t seem to add any natural value to this product and we question their presence. Although it may also explain the reason that the price of this product is relatively low.
Is V76 by Vaughn Beard Oil Effective?
We checked in with consumers to see what they had to say about the effects of V76 by Vaughn and we found a number of very mixed reviews. There were some who loved the product, and others who didn’t find it so appealing and were somewhat put off by the chemical-like smell. It may be that this is a very individual reaction and each person will feel different about it. We did get the impression however, that those who did like the smell and used it, found it to be effective.
Is V76 by Vaughn Beard Oil Safe?
For the most part, we found this product to be safe to use. As with any new product introduced to your daily life, we always advise checking the ingredients and consulting with a healthcare professional should you have any reaction to the product. Topical oils work differently for everyone and the effects vary between individuals especially in the case of beard oils. You should be aware of the additional ingredients in this formula that may cause skin irritation if you have sensitive skin.
Summary
We believe that there is a science behind everything, including beard care and growth. We appreciate formulas that have ingredients that are backed up by science and research and unfortunately we didn’t find enough of that here. There are some stand-out ingredients such as Jojoba oil, Grape Seed oil, Sunflower oil and Saw Palmetto that have garnered a strong reputation for rehydrating beard hair and preventing beardruff. However this product is not based on science or research and unfortunately it is clear to see. We particularly didn’t appreciate the addition of ingredients like Cinnamyl alcohol, Phenoxyethanol and Parfum that may cause more harm than good.
Additionally, we were unimpressed that there is no satisfaction guarantee and consumer reviews were focused on the smell of the product more than whether the product is effective or not. This product is a relatively cheap product, and it’s clear to us why that is. It doesn’t rate nearly as high as our other top choices. You usually get what you pay for and we see this product as being no different. However, if you don’t mind the cheap ingredients, then you may want to give it a try.
